Whole-Home Rewiring & Major Renovations

Outdated wiring is the leading cause of residential electrical fires. Arcline Electric modernizes your home’s entire electrical system safely, efficiently, and fully to code.

When Does a Home Need Rewiring?

If your home was built before 1970, there’s a strong chance it still contains original wiring that doesn’t meet current electrical codes. Knob-and-tube wiring, which was the standard from the early 1900s through the 1940s, uses ceramic insulators and open-air conductors that were never rated for sustained high-amperage loads. Cloth-insulated wiring from the 1940s through 1960s dries out and cracks over time, exposing bare copper conductors. Aluminum branch circuit wiring from the late 1960s and 1970s expands and contracts under load, gradually loosening connections and creating fire hazards.

Even homes built in the 1980s and 1990s may need partial rewiring if the original installation was undersized. Two-prong outlets without grounding, circuits lacking AFCI or GFCI protection, and rooms served by a single 15-amp circuit are all common issues in Pacific Northwest homes that look modern on the surface but haven’t been updated behind the walls.

Knob-and-Tube Replacement

We remove and replace all knob-and-tube wiring with modern copper conductors rated for today's electrical loads.

Aluminum Remediation

Both pigtailing and full replacement options for aluminum branch circuits, depending on your home's condition and budget.

Minimal Wall Damage

We route through attics, crawlspaces, and wall cavities using fish tapes and flex bits to minimize drywall cuts.

Insurance Compliance

Washington insurers increasingly require electrical upgrades. We provide documentation for coverage reinstatement.

We map every existing circuit in your home, identifying all conductors, junctions, and connection points to plan the new layout.

Access Point Planning

Strategic placement of wall openings to minimize cuts and simplify drywall patching after the rewire is complete.

New Wiring Installation

Modern copper wiring installed through attics, crawlspaces, and wall cavities. Dedicated circuits for every code-required area.

Panel Upgrade & Protection

New panel if needed, AFCI and GFCI protection on all required circuits, and properly grounded three-prong outlets throughout.
